The Story of BAZEN

I think it was 2003 or 2004. Those days my only tool to make music was my keyboard. I could only make use of its own memory card to record songs which I could lose with an electricity cut. How difficult these things were back then!

However I started discovering softwares (such as Sony Vegas Pro) with more technology and internet in our lives. This is how I started to make music on adigital platforms.

In this sense BAZEN is not actually my first song. As soon as I started testing, I wrote a couple of songs, one after another. Those times myspace.com was very popular. So I opened a profile there and immediately uploaded these songs.

Shortly after this, I received an e-mail from an independent internet radio channel in the US saying that they were willing to play three of my songs on their channel and they needed a written agreement signed by me if I agreed. It was obviously easier to reach this type of promotion channels those times.

Whatever, back to the story our song. BAZEN was born on such conditions. I was so motivated by the radio thing that I decided to enter an online song contest held by Nokia. I had one more song besides BAZEN, which was suitable for this contest.

SCHIZOPHRENIA was a song in English. While BAZEN was a very calm song, SCHIZOPHRENIA was quite electronic and extraordinary. I eliminated BAZEN after having listened to the other entries. Eventually I didn’t get any successful result from the contest but saw that BAZEN stayed as the most listened song on myspace in the following years.

After almost 15 years, by the end of 2019, I decided to release an album in turkish and to add BAZEN to this album. It’s one the most important and touchstone songs for me with its music and lyrics. Certainly the music was not like this originally. I had to rewrite it on Garageband on iPad.

Today what you are listening to is it’s new version. I also made a remix version. I wish I had the original one also so you could see the difference. Eventually today we have two BAZENs quite different than the original.
…those which land on each note of my song like the petals of a rose… (from the lyrics of BAZEN)

My Official Artist Channel on Youtube ✅

Just as the title suggests, my official artist channel on YouTube is live. Honestly I notice that I am a bit ignorant about this, as after I applied for an official artist channel on YouTube, the next day it came with my new and previous songs made as automated videos and they have been added in the channel already, without me doing actually nothing. They are certainly nothing official but the music itself, visually accompanied by the cover of the album. Certainly I am planning to make videos for my songs in the (near) future but still you can subscribe and turn on the notifications so as to be notified when I upload a new video. Just to make it clear, this is not the same channel that I have the Spanish videos (Good Times). This is only for my music, albums and singles. So please subscribe and turn the notifications on. APTAL INSAN is live at stores

Eventually after a 5-year-silence, I have decided to collect together some of my songs (those in turkish) and release this album called “Aptal Insan”, which means Stupid Human. This time I decided to do everything from tip to toe myself, I mean, not just the songs themselves, their arrangements, writing the lyrics and singing but also making the mixing and mastering and even (now) promoting. Honestly I discovered there was too much to learn. And still, a perfectionist like me would never be content by the outcome, but anyway, I tried to do the best that I can with the tools that I have. In that sense, this was, as a whole, a very satisfying 4-5 month journey. Though, I must admit, it was a very difficult work. I totally respect those sound engineers with what they are doing about the mixing and mastering stages.

I will share the links and the stories of each song individually in the following days but for now I’m giving you the Spotify link. You can still listen to it even without a subscription and with some possible advertisements of course. Apart from Spotify, it’s also available on other digital stores such as Apple music, Deezer, Google play, Tidal etc and in apps like TikTok, Instagram (stories) and Facebook (stories) where you can find me as “Taquo”. And what can you do to support?

  • You may add the songs to your favorite playlists
  • Certainly you may like and share in various platforms
  • You may use them on your Instagram/Facebook stories (please don’t forget to mention me 😁)
  • Any feedback/comment (positive or negative) is very motivating

Thanks for listening… 😍

25 years later

Todo saldrá bien
Herşey güzel olacak
All will be good

What Turkey has been through in the recent years, has shaken lives of most. Not only economically but also politically, morally and even psychologically, many people were affected in a bad manner. Some have (like me) moved out of the country to start a new life from scratch.

With the latest local elections now in Turkey (not only in Istanbul), winds of hope have started to blow. İstanbul and Ankara have new governors now and the leading party (AKP) have lost in many of the biggest cities.

The new Istanbul governor.

The “All will be good” quote has turned out to be his sort of motto and I sort of like it. Honestly I wish these lines of hopefulness spread out to the world and so starts a growing change.

All will be good and the good will win.
